Product Introduction

Winner brand NPSM connectors is meaning that there is NPSM female thread connect end in the connector, NPSM is American National Pipe Straight Mechanical thread, also known as ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 pipe threads.

The NPSM thread is straight pipe thread, and NPT is taper thread. NPSM female swivel connect end with 60° cone, and seal against match with NPT male with conical 60°seat, see below picture.

NPSM thread sizes for Winner connectors include: 1/8”-27, 1/4”-18, 3/8”-18, 1/2”-14, 3/4”-14, 1”-11.5, 1.1/4”-11.5, 1.1/2”-11.5, 2”-11.5.

How to identify it is a NPSM thread and determine the thread size?

1.Visual inspection the internal thread and no taper, or use a inner caliper measure the minor diameter of the internal thread in different length position with same diameter.

2.Measure the thread diameter with an ID caliper, measured on the internal diameter, and holding it perpendicular to the thread for a more accurate female reading.

3.Measure the threads per inch (TPI) or the pitch. As the measured diameter and use relational pitch gauge, try different thread gauges until determine the tightest fit, engage as many threads as possible, there are more thread engaged, the more accurate the reading. Hold the fitting/connector and thread pitch gauge up to the light, looking for gaps between the gauge and thread, this is easier to see on a external thread fitting/connector than a internal thread fitting/connector.
